Believe me, we found peace here and, contrary to the opinion, uncrowded places. We'll show you how to avoid the tourist crowds. Phi Phi is a treasure of the Andaman Sea. Fasten your seat belt and get in with us, we'll show you ...

General information

Koh Phi Phi is an archipelago of six islands in the Andaman Sea, located off the west coast of southern Thailand. The islands are characterized by limestone, soaring rocks, beautiful sandy beaches and coral-rich waters. The largest and only inhabited island is Koh Phi Phi Don. The island is covered with forest, with a mountainous interior is framed by golden beaches. It offers numerous shops, hotels and restaurants. The second largest Koh Phi Phi Leh is often visited by tourists, attracted by beautiful beaches and the Tham Viking cave, whose interior is covered with paintings. Some of the pictures for the movie "Heavenly Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio were also filmed on the island. The other much smaller islands are scattered across the Andaman Sea. Koh Phi Phi is famous for its waters with perfect conditions for diving, full of corals and underwater creatures. The central part of Koh Phi Phi Don is famous for its nightlife and numerous boutique hotels. Memories Vacations offers intimate hotels on the northern tip of the island. Hidden among tall coconut palms, luxurious bungalows will provide you with a truly paradise and tropical vacation.

How to get here ?

The fastest and most popular route is from Phuket. We can choose from public ferries, motorboats and private transfers. You can also reach PhiPhi from Krabi, and even from southern islands such as Koh Lanta, Koh Mook or Koh Lipe.

Location of PhiPhi Islands and route

Ferries are larger, and therefore the journey is more comfortable in case of insufficient weather conditions. Unfortunately, also longer.

If you don't like sea travel and rocking through the waves, choose the ferry. Tickets for the ferry are 3 times cheaper than the speedboat.

If you choose a speedboat, the journey will be shorter 3 times. You will arrive at your destination without unnecessary stops. Unfortunately, tickets are more expensive.

The last option is a private speedboat. The transfer cost is around 400 euros per boat. It is a profitable option if you are traveling in a group of more than 8 people.

Do not be stretched by long tail boat transport to the islands. The waters around Phuket are very crowded with huge ferries and speedboats. The journey by LTB is dangerous.

Only from the first islands of the Andaman Sea, we recommend LTB for most transfers. There, the waters are calm and there are no major threats to small wooden boats.

What to do on the island?

The island offers many interesting attractions. Most tourists come here to visit Maya Bay - located at PhiPhi Leh. Another attraction for tourists on PhiPhi are nightclubs. There are grouped near Tonsai Pier - massage salons, restaurants and disco bars.

Rock climbing and hiking are also popular activities on Koh Phi Phi Don. Large parts of the islands offer great climbing routes, especially Tonsai Tower at the western end of Tonsai Bay.

PhiPhi offer a great choice of world-class snorkeling and diving sites.

Tonsai Pier

Tonsai Pier is always crowded. Nearby restaurants are a great place for a quick lunch. It's worth taking a look around.

The town is decorated with beautiful murals

The marina is short, after walking 100 meters we come to the other side of the bay, only LTBs can dock here.

From the same pier we catch the Long Tail Boat - which are moored and waiting for travelers. You can choose any direction, from here most depart to Maya Bay. We, with our luggage, set off towards the northern tip of the island to LeamTong beach.

We leave the marina, due to the heavy ferry traffic, our Longtail boat is rocking. We are experienced and we know that it is not dangerous. After leaving the bay, we move along the east coast. Along the way, we admire rocky cliffs, vivid green tropical forests and small caves cutting into the Andaman Sea.

Why this beach and not another one?

Laem Tong Beach is a quiet and peaceful beach with several boutique hotels. There is no hustle and bustle here. We found small houses located by the beach, built of wood with the use of ecological materials.

Zeavola

As they write on website

"Welcome to Zeavola, a sustainable Phi Phi Island luxury resort with an air of rustic romance, located on the tranquil white sand Laem Tong Beach. The barefoot luxury experience at our Phi Phi Island hotel allows you to unplug and reconnect with yourself amidst spectacular tropical beauty.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the simplicity of rural village life in adorable teakwood suites that bring you closer to nature. Fill your days with exciting journeys of exploration and adventure on the Andaman Sea, pampering spa treatments, cooking classes and indulge in authentic, delicious cuisine."

Is it true ?

We have been there several times and we are fascinated by this place. The cottages are built with respect for nature. When leaving the house, we have the impression of entering the jungle. We forget about shoes and flip-flops from the very first minutes. They are unnecessary because all paths are covered with white fine sand. Here nature and its inhabitants reign.

The houses are hidden in a tropical forest

Walking these narrow paths is an interesting experience

There are several restaurants right on the beach. The food is of the highest standard, both international and brilliant Thai cuisine.

In 2020, the chef with whom we had the opportunity to talk many times won the title of the best Thai chef.

One of the two bathrooms available. Open version

The houses have a local atmosphere. They have an interior with a bedroom and an exterior with a toilet and shower. Everything creates a unique atmosphere. You can feel harmony with nature here.

YES It's true :-)

We will definitely come back here soon

Laem Tong Beach

The beach can only reached by sea. The atmosphere is completely opposite to the bustling village of Tonsai, as the soothing sound of the waves lapping at the nearly kilometer long beach is only disturbed by the noise of long tail boats and speedboats going to Tonsai Village or Bamboo island.

Laem Tong has long been inhabited only by sea gypsies who founded, a village in the thin land that forms the northern end of Koh Phi Phi Don. This village is still here, but since the late 1980s it has been joined by quite a few resorts. The most noteworthy accommodation options in Laem Tong are the famous Holiday Inn Phi Phi Resort and the luxurious Bohemian Zeavola Resort.

Old Gipsy village

On the northern side, the beach is majestic, white and has a gentle slope to the water. The water is perfectly clear and turns into an emerald color in the sunlight.

At the beach, you can hire a Long Tail Boat for a trip to MayaBay, Bambo, or Tonsai Village.
