So much art in one city. The unique sound of Vienna. Feel the atmosphere of a constantly bustling city. Filled with the atmosphere of art and a modern approach to design.

We have been to Vienna many times, now we want to share with you the most interesting places that are worth visiting during a weekend trip. The number of visited attractions does not matter here ... Vienna is more than the capital of Europe, it is a city filled with the magic of music and art. Stop for a moment to feel the spirit of the city.

We are taking you for a walk in the center of Vienna + The oldest park in the world, Prater

We take the U1 or U3 metro lines and get off at the Stephansplatz station. We go out to the surface near the gate to the cathedral.

St. Stephen's Cathedral (German: Stephansdom, Domkirche St. Stephan) - pride and one of the symbols of the city of Vienna, known for its numerous representations in the history of painting and graphics. It rises in the middle of Stephansplatz in the heart of the oldest part of the city.

The cathedral is the most important and one of the oldest temples in the Austrian capital. Initially, the parish church in 1365 became the seat of the chapter, from 1469/1479 the bishopric of Vienna, which in 1723 was raised to the rank of archbishopric. It was built in the years 1230 / 1240-1263 in the late Romanesque style, and then it was extended from the 14th to the beginning of the 16th century. Then the cathedral received its present Gothic form.

This cathedral is one of the largest European temples, its total length is 107 and its width is 34 meters. Four towers rise above the roofs of the cathedral: the tallest of them, commonly known as Steffl, is 136.4 meters high, while the northern (which was never completed) only 68 meters. The west facade of the cathedral is flanked by two octagonal towers, 65 meters high. Of the twenty-two bells hung in the towers, the most famous is Pummerin, hung in the northern tower, known since 1711, the present one comes from the mid-twentieth century. Singers with rich gothic sculptural decorations. The last of them is decorated with figures of one of the main founders of the cathedral, Rudolf IV, and his wife.

In our opinion, the most interesting experience is participating in a concert of historic organs.

VISITING TIMES

Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am - 11.30 am and from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm Sundays and public holidays from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm

From the cathedral, we head west, after 250 meters of the promenade, turn left into Kohlmarkt street - here you will find the most exclusive boutiques in the city

Michaelerplatz is at the end of the street

This is one of the main squares of Vienna. Historic buildings from Roman times are displayed here. The square was designed in 1725, but was built 200 years later.

Here the Michaelerkirche church was built for the courtiers of the Hofburg, after which the Michaelerplatz square was named.

There are some interesting buildings at the square. One of them is the Michaelertrakt Hofburg, the entrance gate to the castle covered with a dome. Another is the Dietrichstein Palace.

From the side of the square, we enter the Habsburg Palace through the historic gate.

In the castle complex to visit we have: Sisi Museum, Imperial Apartments and silver collection

We go to the square on the other side of the palace centrally behind the Swiss gate and head towards the Volksgarten.

Volksgarten (or the "People's Garden") is one of the most beautiful public outdoor places in Vienna. Located in the Innere Stadt, it was built over the top of the part of the city that was destroyed during the reign of Napoleon. The venue was finished and first opened to the public in 1820.

Volksgarten owes its fame largely to the gardens inside, especially the rose section. There is also a very famous temple here, called the Theseus, replicating the eponymous famous Greek original. Peter von Nobile built the monument in 1823 as a tribute to Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

We continue towards Votiv kirche, stopping at the Rathaus and the Burg Theater. Events often take place at the town hall, at the end of the summer holidays there is always an open-air cinema festival

Unfortunately the Votívkirche is currently under renovation both inside and out, so we changed direction and hit ourselves along the ring towards the Mozart Monument

On the way, we cross the park next to the Palm House and make a full circle past the opera house in front of the oldest hotel in Vienna - Sacher Hotel

Sacher cake was created and served unchanged. Still hand-made according to the original recipe of 16-year-old Franz Sacher, who became famous quite by accident. In 1832, Prince Matternich requested a dessert that would not disappoint him. Unfortunately, the chef just got sick, that's why the dessert was prepared by 16-year-old Franz, you already know the rest of the story. The cake is known all over the world, and it is Vienna's must-see alongside the Wiener schnitzel

From there, we can go further to the museum district or walk back towards the cathedral along the promenade.

We turn towards the cathedral to continue towards the Prater ...
