At the threshold of the gate to the geopark, we follow the path leading through endemic vegetation ...

Red, brown, purple, green, blue, purple and yellow. An almost surreal, moon-like spectacle of rainbow-hued dunes unfolds before your eyes, leaving you completely mesmerized. This unique geological singularity, nestled in the middle of lush green vegetation, is one of those amazing natural creations that make it "Wow."

Wavy strips of multi-colored sand that spontaneously settle on different layers are one of the most photographed and visited attractions on the island. They are situated in an open clearing surrounded by an endemic plant garden that highlights the natural heritage of Mauritius. On the upper edge, spectacular views of the vast amphitheater of ravines clad in lush tropical vegetation.
The park is open all year round from 8:30 to 17:00, Geopark is a must-see for curious minds of all ages.

The visual effect of this place depends to a large extent on the time of day, sunlight and humidity. And what is the secret of the Chamarel dunes, known as the "Land of Seven Colors"?
A mixture of volcanic ash combined with the presence of minerals creates a stunning effect.
The colors change depending on the time of day, rainfall and the angle of the sun's rays.
Frequent rains and high air humidity complete the works.
It is worth spending a lot of time here because it is a magical place.

There is also a fun and interesting Tortoise Park and a gift shop offering a range of souvenirs including local Chamarel produce.

It is strange that in such an attractive place souvenirs are sold - rum, coffee, etc. at prices lower than in shops outside the park - it is worth stocking up :-)

The coffee is 100% local. All production takes place in the region from seedlings to roasting coffee.
We did not pass by it indifferently and we did not fall short.
Colored lands are common in Mauritius, they can be seen in many places, there are even parks that advertise themselves as 23 colors of earth.
Here, however, they look the most effective!
