Trip to Mauritius
Top things to do in Mauritius?
What to see in Mauritius?
The most beautiful beaches in the world?
Chamarel Falls?
The land of rum and vanilla?
You've come to the right place !

The trip is always preceded by long preparations and tedious packing - we travel with 2 children - 5-year-old Eliza and 7-year-old Boris.
We prepare individually for each trip because we pack a suitcase with the equipment necessary for handling a small diabetic and a supply of insulin for the standard equipment - there is no room for a mistake and everything must be planned with a large margin.
When choosing an operator, we follow the flight times. Children can sleep over the 11-hour journey safely.
The AirFrance flight turned out to be perfect: departure from Warsaw to Paris, 4-hour transfer and 23:35 flight to Mauritius. The children slept for 9 hours on the plane. The goal has been achieved :-) We get off refreshed and ready for a new adventure.

We were very lucky because, as it turned out, we got a beautiful panorama of Flic en Flac and Le Morne

As it turned out, it was not the limit of luck for the day :-)
Tamarind Falls in all its glory!

Mauritius welcomed us with beautiful sun and a temperature of 29 degrees.
The first impression after leaving the airport - but green here, beautifully like in a botanical garden.
A previously hired driver was waiting for us in the parking lot - the cost of the journey is PLN 220 - 45 km
Narrow roads, no shoulder. We were prepared for left-hand traffic :-). We were very surprised by the drivers' driving culture and compliance with road traffic regulations. Speed cameras and speed bumps at every step. Due to the large number of bends, the journey was very long, despite the small number of kilometers to cover.

Sunday is a day off in Mauritius. Whole families spend time together by the ocean

Such views accompany us all the way
On the way, we pass places that we have on our wish-list: Rumeria St Aubin, Vanilla Park and Rochester Falls - more on them later.
After 60 minutes of driving, we reached our final destination
Outrigger Mauritius in Bel Ombre
A fabulously located place with a huge lagoon, hiding a beautiful coral reef.
#Outrigger #BelOmbre #OutriggerMauritius #Lagoon
Eliza and Borys after 19 hours of travel :-)

Club Plantation - one of the best restaurants in Mauritius !!!

The first 3 days of the 18-day stay were spent on acclimatization. The nearly 30-degree temperature difference between Europe and Mauritius has hit us hard.
The Outrigger Mauritius Hotel is located in the south of the island in the small village of Bel Ombre. Apart from a few hotels and 3 local bars, nothing special there. We were tempted by the proximity of key attractions: Chamarel, Vanilla Park, LeMorne, Flic en Flac and a beautiful coral reef.
You can find more about Outrigger Mauritius - Bel Ombre here
Regenerated and motivated, we set off to conquer the island!
We have already planned our trips before the trip. The TAXI-MAURITIUS application went first, we booked a 9-seater bus and waited patiently for the driver at 9:00 am. The cost of booking a car with fuel, driver is 80E. We found it a great value for the rental car.
Punctually at 9:00 am, a driver named Robin came, as it turned out we used his services 4 more times.

Courtesy of Robin, we managed to reduce the costs of many fruit purchases as well as admission tickets to Chamarel and Vanilla Park.
For the first time, we chose the Chamarel region with its greatest attraction, the Chamarel Falls waterfall - the water falls here from a height of 107m. There is time to contemplate and spend time face to face with nature. Unfortunately, we also found a drone ban, which we always respect!
The Chamarel Reserve is a habitat for 400 species of birds that would rather not want a buzzing spy :-)

From the vantage point, we walk along a picturesque path lined with wonderful
tree root carpet. We reach another observation deck with an epic panorama.

A phenomenal place and worth seeing.
More about the Chamarel Falls here
A few minutes walk separates us from another attraction which is the reserve of the earth of 7 colors
Terres des Sept Couleurs

An atmospheric narrow path leads us from the parking lot, after several dozen meters there is a natural wonder shaped by hundreds of years.

We can observe multi-colored earth in various parts of the island, but here in the park we can see it in the natural surroundings of beautiful tropical forests.
The intensity of the colors depends on the humidity and the angle of the sun's rays.
An interesting fact is that if we mix these sands, they will separate from each other in some time, creating a colorful spectacle of colors.

In addition, we have at our disposal a catwalk with turtles which won the hearts of Elizka and Boris.
Despite the enormous humidity and high temperature, we spent 1.5 hours admiring the beauty of this place.

You can buy unique souvenirs on site. The only coffee produced in Mauritius comes from Chamarel, as coffee enthusiasts we have stocked up a good stock :-)

The most popular product from the Chamarel region is rum produced in nearby Rhumeria.
A very popular place, but with a short tradition as in a rhumer. They have been producing rum only since 2007. Chamarel is a very popular and promoted brand, but the classic of the genre in Mauritius is rum from St. Aubin about which in a moment :-)
Little treasures also came out fishy! And satisfied. Eliza chose a turtle mascot and a hand-made hat, while Boris chose practically a souvenir with the Chamarel lands.

Black River Georges rally point
black river valley viewpoint
Another point was the place from which we admired the gorge of black trees - Black River - Georges view point. The inherent elements of this place are monkeys, very greedy for sweets and souvenir stalls.
It was one of the few places where we managed to buy local handicrafts, not Chinese fakes.

Some even get "monkey brain" :-)

At the entrance we bought fresh pineapple and coconut at a reasonable price for tourists - coconut 120 rupees, pineapple 100 rupees.
Alexandra's Falls
view point ...
... was supposed to be a place with a beautiful view of waterfalls and the ocean. And indeed it was, but the greatest discovery for us, and especially for children, was paper trees.

Soft and nice to the touch. Only the children, collecting the lying bark, discovered that it had a paper structure. This is where we spent the most time. We tried to go down to the waterfall, but unfortunately the path turned out to be too demanding for the little ones.
Lunch time
After a few hours of sightseeing in 30 degrees Celsius and near 100% humidity, we got slightly hungry. Finding a place where you can eat local specialties without spending a million coins was a real challenge.
Our driver Robin came to the rescue, he took us to a great local restaurant where we had an incredible dinner. For the local Roti, we received 7 Creole additions.
We recommend this place 100%

The owner washes everyone's hands before a meal

Le Port Ship Model - Vascoas
Mauritius, in addition to vanilla, tea and rum, is also famous for the production of handicrafts such as miniature ships made of teak, ropes are made of hand-woven wool. Everything is made with great attention to the smallest details.
At first, we were unhappy that Robin had convinced us to make this visit. As it turned out completely unfounded.
The place made a great impression on us.

Boris caught the eye of a miniature replica of a black pearl with a figure of Jack Sparrow. Unfortunately, the souvenir price at the level of 349E made us prepare for the topic in the future.
If you want to make such a purchase, there are no contraindications. When buying, we will receive a special filling, packaging and a certificate thanks to which we will be able to bring the exhibit to the EU.
Trou aux Cerfs - Mauritius volcano
#trouauxcerfs
Trou aux Cerfs is an integral part of your trip to Mauritius. Your opinion, overrated. From the very top, only a small part of the crater is visible. Due to the proximity of the French embassy and the meteorological institute, we did not take photos of the drone that would show the beauty of this place. After a long while and talking to passers-by, it turned out that this place has 2 faces. It is the top of a mountain with hiking and running paths.
You can buy souvenirs at the crater, unfortunately the prices are dizzying.

We are slowly returning to Bel Ombre - Robin convinces us to visit one more place with a beautiful view of the Tamarind Falls
Tamarind Falls
#tamarindfalls
A local guide is a treasure!
The place is dizzy. On the one hand, a breathtaking view of the waterfalls, from the expensive one overlooking the ocean.
Lick your fingers!

Little frequented place, which is a pity because it is magical.
There is only us and amazing nature. We were very lucky to see this place also from the plane.

On the way back, we stock Passion Fruit - price for a tourist 2 pcs 50 rupees, Robin bought 2 for 15 :-)
We spent the next 3 days tasting local specialties and recharging the batteries for the next day of adventure.
More about Tamarind Falls here
This time we headed east of Le Morne to see Vanilla Park, St. Aubin, Griss Griss cliffs, and waterfalls in a nearby park.
Enjoy ...
Robin is on time as usual. He proposes to change the plan due to the crowds of tourists in the afternoon in Vanilla Park.
We finally stop, he is the "boss" here.
The road passes quickly. Outside the window we are constantly amazed by something. From unusual houses and colorful bazaars to fabulously colorful Hindu temples.

After 45 minutes we reach Vanilla Park, we are one of the first and we get a private guide for free.
Vanilla Park - the land of turtles
#lavanillenaturepark #vanillapark
The oldest turtles on the island live in Vanilla Park, the largest of which is 106 years old.
About 3,000 turtles and 300 crocodiles live here. Plus, iguanas, fish, lemurs ...

Big, right here it lies, but believe me it's very fast :-)

We go further, here we will come back at the end, for feeding turtles :-)
Then we came across a great Iguana that turned out to be quite social

We discovered a place not frequented by tourists, they call it a wild path. This is the real kingdom of bamboos and wild plants

The crocodiles are impressive, but feeding them was a rather uninteresting spectacle. We will only remember the sound when the crocodile's jaw tightens.
We were lucky this time too. Once every 2 months, a crocodile is born in the sanctuary.
Boris even welcomed a newborn predator.

Finally, we came back to spend more time with the turtles. The children made sure that none of them stayed hungry :-)

Mechanical recycled version here

There is also a natural playground
More about Vanilla Park here
Time flies and we with it. Purpose ???
Rhumerie Saint Aubin
#larhumerie #staubinmauritius
Before visiting rumeria, the atmosphere is always uplifting, we all look forward to tasting :-) When suddenly Robin says ...

Hola Hola, before tasting, we go to La Maison de la Vanille, the house of vanilla
#Vanille #MaisonVanille

Vanilia in the wild

Vanilie from different parts of Africa

This is the drying process - only wind and sun

We learned the secrets of vanilla production and types. Here you can buy vanillas at a bargain price
We move on, on the way to the rhumerie we came across a playground in the shade of a beautiful garden. After a short laziness we found the oldest rhumerie in Mauritius.
They have been producing rum here since 1819.
More about Saint Aubin here - work in progress
We learn the secrets of rum production - production is done by hand from a to z.
Own ingredients: sugar cane, vanilla, coffee. Everything is produced on site

We continue to the distillery

The rum is resting in wooden planks made of black wood

And finally for tasting :-)
Ladies don't regret it, there are 15 kinds to taste. 7 of them are the drinks we give up. We focus on those flavored and matured.

Rum is phenomenal and unique - we like the vanilla one

After visiting the rhumerie, the smile did not leave our face.
We'd take any distance blind, we're headed to Gris Gris.
It turned out that we only had a few kilometers to cover :-)
Gris Gris Klify
After reaching the destination, we saw a fabulous view of the endless ocean.
Gris Gris is one of the most beautiful and picturesque beaches of Mauritius.
Locals call it Weeping Rock - the waves hitting the cliff drip down the rocks. Locals see in it tears streaming down the rocks.
There is also a LEGEND associated with this place, but more on that here
#grisgris #grisgrismauritius #grisgrisbeach #viewfromtop

The beach is picturesque but also dangerous. Locals advise against bathing!

Storm is coming ...

We ate the best samosa in this place.
It looks inconspicuous, but the food was delicious!

After a hearty meal and relaxing on the beach, we set off towards the waterfalls, due to heavy rainfall in recent days, we let go of Rochester Falls and follow Robin's suggestion to La Vallée des Couleurs, another reserve of colorful lands.
We are interested in swimming in waterfalls
Let's go
La Vallée des Couleurs - the adrenaline park
#lavalleedescouleurs
Once there, the parking lot is bursting at the seams, Robin leaves us at the entrance and off we go.
We are in an adrenaline park: quads, zip line 1400m etc.
We follow the path down towards the waterfalls.
It's incredibly hot, but it's also incredibly green
A picturesque path leads us down the stream

Children have a lot of fun overcoming obstacles

This is one of the largest ferns we have seen ... ever ...

The first of the waterfalls did not impress us in terms of bathing.
The thicket of trees and the breeze of the waterfall meant that we spent a lot of time here feeling like in a refrigerator.
35 degrees and 100% humidity ...

23 colors of the earth?
Perhaps, for sure very colorful :-)
Every natural park in Mauritius is said to have such an attraction!

Destination ! The pool is large, perfect for swimming.
Due to the depth, we did not risk swimming, reportedly over 20 meters.

Another long day, full of impressions is behind us.
A few days of chillout made us want more impressions.
Port Louis - the capital of Mauritius
Port Louis is located on the west side of the island, defended by a citadel which offers a beautiful panorama of the city.
Multi Kulti - that's what I should call this city.
It infiltrates the culture of Portugal, Holland, France and India.
More about Port Louis here
Tea from Mauritius?
KuanFu Tea Factory - in the Port Louis factory area
We don't like places like this, but well ...
Quick tour without fireworks, then time for a tasting
The master of ceremonies enlightened us on how to brew tea in 7 ways :-)
She tried to sell us tea 4 times more expensive, but not with us such numbers
We were most surprised by the tasting. Tea was indeed extraordinary, but we were shocked when Eli and Borys found green tea delicious. Still the black tasted delicious for them, without the addition of sugar or honey.
We recommend this place for aesthetic reasons, but the tea itself is cheaper to buy in shops

Streets of Port Louis
The streets of the very center are carefully monitored

The business district, where all corporations are based

Citadel
360-degree view of the whole city

The building is partially rebuilt, made of hollow bricks, which spoils the atmosphere a bit

The richest and government employees live here

Le Caudan Waterfront - Promeneda Port Louis
The promenade starts at the harbor and ends at the Blue Penny Museum.
Here we calmly eat farathe, samosa and dholl puri. We also found delicious coffee here.
You can buy souvenirs here, but also clothes from Hugo Boss or Calvin Clein.

The best puri dholl on the island

We'd like to spend more time in Port Louis. It is a place where the cultures of the whole world meet.
It is diverse, colorful and atmospheric.
Find out more about Port Louis here
We are heading towards the most beautiful beaches in the world !!!
Flic en Flac - Heaven on Earth?
#rainland #flicenflacbeach
Getting to your dream beach suggests that this place will be unique.
The closer to the goal, the more luxurious villas and apartments we pass.
In the vicinity of the beach, plenty of restaurants, bars and kitchenettes, all prepared for perfect chillout.
We park at the public beach. We move through the shaded parking lot and we see a wide, white beach and azure ocean.
The most beautiful beach in the world? the most beautiful beach in Mauritius?
As for public beaches, it is our Top 5
#FlicenFlac #flicenflacbeach

Sand, as fine as on Koh Hong or Caio Blanco, maybe I overdid it :-)))

Azure, azure, azure ...

A lot of company here, but everyone will find a place for themselves

LeMorne beach - the most beautiful beach in Mauritius?
This is joined by the Top 5 public beaches, number 1 !!! :-)
#lemorne #lemornebrabant #lemornebeach #lemornemauritius
Unearthly situated on the slopes of LeMorne Mountain

Afternoon hours, only a handful of people on the beach

Here there are 5.5 * hotels with their own golf course - epic seat reservation
